Chemka Oasis, also known as Kikuletwa Hot Springs, is a unique phenomenon – it is the only place in Tanzania (and most likely in the whole East Africa), where the groundwater actively interacted with geothermal sources, forming a number of small lakes with warm, never-stagnating water, which purity is simply fascinating and perfect to spend a day around the natural warm water pools
Early in the morning, we’ll pick you up from your Moshi hotel for the hour-long trip to the Chemka Hot Springs. Hold on tight since the journey is rough and windy. Don’t forget to take in the beautiful landscape and real Tanzanian life as you go along the road.
You are free to be yourself when we come. Spend some time along the side of the springs, admiring the clear blue waters and rich greenery of the surrounding forest. Take a leisurely swim (remember, the water is quite warm, so it won’t feel like an Olympic sprint) or float in your own world, listening to the water lapping and birds overhead.
Why not try your hand at the rope swing if you’re feeling brave? Feel free, go with the flow and feel like a kid again.
The pond may be rather deep, up to 10 meters in certain spots, yet the water is so pure that you can see all the way to the bottom. Eat your lunch under the shade of the trees or, if you’re a sun worshipper, locate your own private oasis. You’ll have lots of opportunities to see the fauna that frequents the Chemka Hot Springs.
